Custom Services

I make many different kinds of wood furniture, home decor, and other items you would expect to find at a woodworking business. In addition to the woodcrafts I sell, I also offer some services you may not know about! Rates for each custom service depend on the request unless otherwise listed. Please contact me for a free quote!

Custom Lumber Milling

I can mill your logs into lumber using a bandsaw mill in Brule, WI if logs can be transported, or on-site with my Granberg Alaskan chainsaw mill and Stihl ms661c. Both mills can handle a maximum log diameter of about 29-30". I charge an hourly rate of $65 for milling plus $30 for each dulled chain/blade if metal is struck within the log, plus mileage. Boards are delivered to you green (not dried), so you will need to prepare a space to stack and sticker the lumber while it air dries.

Lumber and Slabs for Sale

Are you like me and make everything yourself, but milling your own wood into lumber is just the one thing you don't do? Well, it just so happens I have stacks of lumber of all different tree species [e.g. spruce, pine, birch, white oak, red oak, hard (sugar) maple, red (soft) maple, ash], and even some harder to find tree species like willow and elm. I will match the average market board foot rates for rough-sawn, air-dried lumber by species. I do not have a kiln. I don't list boards or slabs individually for sale, so contact me and let me know what you are looking for; my supply is always changing as I mill more wood and use things up in my woodcrafts.

Tree and Log Pickup

I pride myself in using logs which are salvaged. I do not buy logs, so please do not contact me to try and sell me your timber. I also am not a tree service and will not drop trees on your property. However, if there are trees on the ground which could be milled into boards, I may be interested in the logs so you don't have to dispose of everything yourself or pay a tree service. Let me know if you are interested in a custom furniture piece made from the trees on your property; I can tag the boards and use them to build your custom order once they are dry! Air drying typically takes 1 year per 1 inch of board thickness.

European Skulls

Okay, I get that this service seems like an odd fit for a woodworker! However, I've been a sportsman all my life, and I hunt and fish for everything our great area has to offer. I've been boiling and bleaching my own skulls for European mounts for probably 15 years and I've become quite proficient at it. I also have European mount plaques for sale made from red oak, birch, and cedar (typically). A European skull hung from a nice wood plaque looks awesome! Pricing is $100 for a deer skull if the hide is already removed, or $125 if you just drop off a head with hide still attached. I flesh, boil, bleach, and spray a coat of matte polyurethane on your skull.

Custom Laser Engraving

I have a Laserpecker 2 engraver, which has limited capabilities when working with metal or glass, but it works great on wood! I can turn photos into engravings (see 'custom ornament' product) or use digital images you or I purchase up to a size of about 4 x 4 inches. It works really well to add a personal touch to gifts by adding messages or meaningful images. Simple text engravings or small images start at $10 each. Rates increase with complexity/time involved.
